An Open Letter to All the Doctors who Expect Us to Live and Die by the TSH number

Here's a fucking news flash:

THYROID PATIENTS DON'T COME TO YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR TSH LEVELS.

They come to you because:
  • they are cold all the time;
  • they can't sleep;
  • everything hurts;
  • their hair is falling out;
  • they keep gaining weight no matter what they do;
  • their ankles are swollen;
  • they can't shit without taking a million laxatives;
  • they wake up every morning feeling like they've been run over by a steamroller;
  • they are depressed;
  • they are anxious;
  • they have a metric fuckton of other symptoms.

In short, they are sick; and all your treatments do is KEEP THEM SICK. Because all you care about is keeping the TSH within some bullshit range.

Here's another newsflash:

Many of your patients had NORMAL TSH LEVELS when they walked through your door.

So, basically, when you give them miniscule dosages of T4, to KEEP them in the range they WERE ALREADY IN WHEN THEY CAME TO SEE YOU, you are essentially doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

I once had a doctor tell me: "None of my patients with normal TSH feel good."

None.

Of my patients.

With normal TSH.

 Feel good.

NONE of them?

Why aren't you asking WHY?

I mean, these people are coming to you BECAUSE THEY ARE SICK, and after you're done with them THEY'RE STILL SICK.

Not only are they still sick, they have THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS THAT BROUGHT THEM TO YOUR DOOR IN THE FIRST PLACE.
And, you somehow think that's ok.
Not only do you think it's ok, but you actually think it's ridiculous to expect anything different.

That absolutely ZERO SYMPTOM RELIEF, is the sign of a successful treatment protocol?

What the fuck is wrong with you?
